Today (Thursday 21 March) was International Race Relations Day. Race Relations Day marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is celebrated around the world. The 2013 theme is“My Dream for Aotearoa New Zealand…” Our school was encouraged to celebrate the value of cultural diversity and the need to support harmonious race relations. Race Relations Day is a time when you can do something to celebrate, learn, discuss, plan or promote diversity. South Hornby School decided to have a mufti day to celebrate all the colours of the world – we could either wear our Awhina group colour or cultural dress. The whole school went out onto the court to take a "rainbow" photo.
My name is Angela Jones (Mrs Jones). I have been teaching at South Hornby School for 20 years. I have taught new entrants through to Year 5. I am the leader of the Middle Syndicate team of 4 classes of Year 3 and 4 students. I love my job!
