We watched this You Tube clip. Our writing focus was to put ourselves in the man's place and write a diary entry about waking up with a radio in our stomach. We hope you enjoy both the video clip and our fabulous writing.
A day in my life One day I woke up and I could hear music. It was coming from my tummy. I went to the doctor. He looked at the x-ray. He said there was a radio in my tummy. There was pop music coming from the radio. I went to a bus stop. There was a man sitting next to me. He started to dance to the music. He wouldn’t leave me alone. Next I went to the supermarket. I was buying products when a man came up to me and started dancing. He wouldn’t stop so I left. Then I went to the beach to get some peace and quiet. I was starting to relax when a girl in a bikini came over so I left. I went to get surgery. The surgeons started dancing when they were taking it out. They finally got the radio out. I was happy. Dear Diary One morning I woke up and went into the kitchen to get breakfast. Next all I heard was humming coming from my stomach. Suddenly my flatmate came out into the kitchen, and she heard the music and started dancing. So I decided to go for a walk down the street. I actually thought for once that I should groove down the street. The music was pop music. It made everyone dance and break dance. So I went to the bus stop. Two guys came up and danced at the bus stop all around me. So I went to the café. Then the lady serving the food danced and then gave the person food that was behind me. So I left and went to the supermarket. On the way the mailman came by. Next he heard the music and chased me down the street. Then all I remember was that I was on a stretcher in the hospital getting rushed to surgery. Then the surgeons laid me down on a bed. Suddenly the surgeons started dancing around me. While they searched for the radio in my stomach they hummed. Next they got the remote and turned the radio off and took it out. So I smiled for just about the first time that whole day. By Paige
Dear Diary Today was the worst day of my life. This morning when I woke up there was music coming from my tummy. I never knew what it was so I went to the hospital, and they gave me an x-ray and I saw that I had a radio inside my tummy. Next I went home and when I went into the kitchen my wife started to dance. After that I went to the bus stop and a strange, fat man started to do a groovy, annoying dance. Then I went to the café and the café lady started to dance. In her dance she did a couple of handstands. Suddenly I went to the beach for some peace and quiet. Then a weird lady in a pretty bikini came over and danced. It really annoyed me. Then I got too annoyed so I went to the hospital to get an operation. Before the operation they put me to sleep. Straight away when they cut my tummy open they started to groove. At the end of the day I smiled because I was happy about the radio being out of my stomach. By Eden
A day in my life Dear Diary today was the worst day of my life. I woke up this morning and when I went to get breakfast suddenly there was a sound coming from my tummy. When I went to go to the bus stop a fat man was dancing around me. When I went for a walk people kept dancing around me. After that I went to the supermarket. People still kept dancing around me. Later I went to the beach to get some peace and quiet but then a girl in a white bikini came over and danced around me. Then I decided to go to the hospital to get the radio removed. The surgeons cut open my sore tummy and removed the radio. When they cut open my tummy the surgeons danced to the music, and one of the surgeons pushed stop on the radio. The surgeons stopped dancing and for the first time all day I smiled. By Desharn
One day of my life I’ll never forget One day I woke up to a square shape in my stomach and I knew it wasn’t ordinary so I went to the hospital. When the doctor showed me my x-ray, I saw a square radio in my stomach! Then I pulled my t-shirt up and saw it and suddenly it started to play the song “I need you one hundred per cent”. Then the doctor put his stethoscope on my chest where the radio was and then suddenly he started dancing. Then I just left and sat at the bus stop and then when I was waiting for a bus a worker who was also waiting for a bus sat down beside me. He got up and danced to the music and when I got up to leave he followed me!! Then when I came to my house to make myself breakfast my wife came in for her breakfast and she started dancing to the music. Then when I went shopping while I was looking on the shelves suddenly the shopkeeper came up behind me and danced! When I was on my way to the café a lady in front of me started dancing. After that I went to the café for a coffee but when the café girl was about to give it to me she danced!!! Then finally I went to the hospital to have an operation and just when they were about to do it – they danced!!!! Luckily they did the operation while they were dancing. Then I saw the radio in a bowl, and they turned it off – finally!!! By Quintin
This week is our school Science Fair. The Senior syndicate and Middle syndicate inquiry this term was based around the Science Fair. Entries needed to be in the hall for judging on Monday morning. In Room 12 we had 5 groups each doing a Science Fair project. Our 5 Science Fair projects were:
Which brand of paper towel is the most absorbent?
What liquids react with baking soda?
Dancing raisins in lemonade
What happens when you put gummy bears in different liquids?
How much sugar is in different drinks?
We had to do tests and write our results. We typed up all our information on the computer and used the ipads to take the photos. On Monday afternoon we went to the hall to see all the entries. The photos below show some of our classroom testing for our entries and photos of the entries in the hall.
We have had tennis coaching at school. Shane and Ian from Ellesmere Tennis took us for 2 sessions. We played different games to develop our tennis skills. Some of us even did some press-ups - when we dropped the ball!! Some of us did more than others. Mrs Jones didn't do any though - she was too good!! We took home a notice offering an extra 3 hours coaching (free of charge) on 3 Sunday mornings at the Hornby Tennis Club. Shane and Ian encouraged us to join a tennis club. They believe that tennis is a game for a lifetime with people from 5 to 95 able to play.
When I grow up I want to be a Scientist. Being a Scientist would be fun. I think I would be a great Scientist. I like doing experiments. Sometimes being a Scientist would be hard. It could be hard because some things could never work. I would need a lab coat, test tubes, glasses and acids. I would be a forensic scientist. That is a Scientist that solves mysteries. When I get my first pay cheque I would pay the bills and buy the groceries. By Dominic
When I grow up I want to be a Dentist because it is fun to help other people, and it's interesting. It will be hard working with little children crying and stopping me from working. The tools that I will need are needles, a mirror, a face mask, some rubber gloves, glasses and a uniform. The first thing that I would do with my first pay cheque is learn how to drive, then buy a car and buy new clothes. By Lorelei
When I grow up I want to be an Artist. It would be lots of fun because I could draw lots of pictures. I would get to use crayones, spray paint and paint. It would be very hard to draw big pictures and trying to get them right and not to stuff up the pictures. The tools I would need to buy are a coat, so I don't get paint or spray paint of my clothes. The first thing I would get with my pay would be a racing car. By Jermaine
When I grow up I want to be a military person, so I can be in the air force, army and navy when I grow up, but I can't decide what force I would like to be in yet. The job would be fun because I could defend my country and use dangerous weapons. The job would also be hard because I would get yelled at and I will also have to wake up early. I would need certain types of clothing for this job such as camouflage (uniform) and grenades for combat, and maybe if I'm a dog handler I will need a collar as well. I would buy a pistol or a different type of gun or a military uniform with my first pay cheque. By Quintin
When I grow up I want to be a Teacher. When you are a Teacher you need to go to university before you become an official teacher. The tools you will need are - pencils, pens, a laptop, folders and books. My first pay cheque I will spend it on everything I need to be a Teacher. I think being a Teacher will be fun because I can sing and teach, and get kids to learn more! By Paige
When I grow up I want to be an All Black. I really want to be an All Black because it's physical and I would get to represent New Zealand. I wouldn't like to join mauls. It would be hard to score trys and choose my position. I would need a mouth guard, a uniform and some boots to run around and protect my mouth. With my first pay cheque I would really like to buy a motor bike. By Sean
We are learning to use the ipads to take photos. We are also learning how to take "selfies" of ourselves. These photos are from our very first session - and they are pretty good! Next we are going to use some of the camera apps that we have on the ipads to get really creative.
